For Broken Things
by Kim Capps
in this summer of broken hearts
too many mothers weep
as we stare at what’s been shattered
and the wounds that cut so deep
some think they can fix it , some try to take control
but I just sit here prayin’ for broken things to be made whole
for broken things to be made whole
well, they always felt safe dancin’
not so anymore
In a night club or on the street
feels like we’re always in a war
are the guns we think will save us
worth the lives they take in toll?
we need to lay them down
for broken things to be made whole
for broken things to be made whole
Bridge:
confession & forgiveness walk hand in hand with love. Love seeks to do justice
that’s what we need more of, justice seeking love, justice seeking love
there are way too many people
shouting hate and spreading fear
just a few willing to listen
even fewer that can hear
that the way we’ll cross this mountain will try our very souls—
we’ve got to travel there together
for broken things to be made whole
for broken things to be made whole
can we travel there together every voice is important
can we travel there together can we listen to each other?
can we travel there together hate cannot have the last word!
can we travel there together it seems impossible until its done
can we travel there together?
for broken things to be made whole
